Women's Health

Holistic treatments in maintaining women's health during conception and pregnancy play an essential role.  Reflexology in particular has an amazing impact on maintaining hormonal balance and has been used succesfully to support many women during all stages of pregnancy.

How can it help?

It can relieve against common pregnancy ailments such as morning sickness, back ache, fluid retention and swelling.  It can also be a help when adjusting to the demands of coping with a new baby, and can support your menstrual cycle as it returns to normal.  Research has also shown that reflexology is excellent for maintaining or increasing milk supply as well as helping with post-natal depression.

 Reflexology and Fertility

Reflexology can be incredibly beneficial on an emotional and physical level.  Quite often women do not conceive because they are anxious or worried, reflexology works on the subconscious mind and so encourages total relaxation which improves both one's emotional and physical well being.

As it regulates the menstrual cycle, it also aids PMT, scanty or excessive bleeds, irregular cycles and mid cycle bleeds, all of which can have an adverse affect on a woman's ability to conceive.  Headaches, cramping and backaches can also be caused through hormonal imbalances all of which are associated with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Reflexology has been proven to help with this and other conditions such as endemetriosis and fibroids.  When these conditions are eased, the receptivity of the uterus during conception is greatly enhanced.

As with all holistic therapies they work alongside and compliment orthodox treatments.  Therefore, should you and your partner be undertaking IVF, then these treatments will work with them brilliantly, increasing positive feelings relaxing your whole body-mind, body and spirit.  Not only will they enable you to cope better with any stressful procedures but will also help balance any side affects of drug therapy.

How Can I Help?

I am a practising Reflexologist accredited by the International Federation of Reflexologists.  I am also on the NHS list of Complementary Practitioners.  For the last four years I have practised Reflexology and thoroughly enjoyed it.  It has been an amazing journey working with individuals, and seeing their progress over time.

Reflexology has benefited the many people I have worked with physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  Many of my clients have gone on to conceive, and I have been fortunate enough to work with a few friends through their pregnancies.

Work with fertility and pregnancy is an area which interests me greatly.  Therefore, I am looking for people who are offering to try reflexology for the duration of 4 weeks or more.  Treatments will be £15 per hour, or £40  (£10 per hour) when you book 4 consecutive treatments.  These will usually be held on Thursdays at St. Mary Clinic, Chippenham, other arrangements can be made.  If you know someone who you think will benefit from this, then go to Newsletter for more details.
